Choro is a music of the people that can be found in Brazil’s bars and at barbecues.   Band members of Regional de NY, a choro band from Brazil, the United States, and Australia. Each member has a personal connection to the music.

Regional de NY was formed in 2011 by Ranjan Ramchandani.  The band features pandeiro, mandolin, cavaquinho, guitar, and accordion played by regular band members and visiting musicians. Regional de NY is: Ranjan Ramchandani, Jesse Appleman, Kahil Nayton, and Cesar Garabini.

Willis Arnold reports on the band’s growing popularity and their regular gig at Beco’s in Brooklyn.
